The latest release of FBI documents on the investigation of Hillary Clinton's emails has revealed what Donald Trump calls "felony corruption." According to the documents, FBI employees told investigators that State Department official Patrick Kennedy had pressured them to change their finding that one of the emails on her private server was classified, Reuters reports. FBI officials said that in a bid to protect Clinton, Kennedy discussed a "quid pro quo" deal in which the State Department would allow an increased FBI presence in Iraq in return for ruling that the information in the Benghazi-related email was unclassified. A roundup of coverage:

  • The FBI and the State Department are pushing back against the allegations, saying there was no "quid pro quo" and the email remained classified, the Washington Post reports, though the agencies admit that the email and FBI slots in Iraq came up in the same conversation.

  • Politico reports that at a rally in Green Bay, Wis., on Monday night, Trump called the alleged deal "felony corruption by any standard" and called for the resignation of Kennedy, who is undersecretary of state for management.
  • GOP Rep. Jason Chaffetz of Utah, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, tells Fox News that there is a "flashing red light of potential criminality" in the latest document release, and he believes there will be grounds for at least four hearings on the matter this fall.
  • The New York Times reports that despite the email issue and embarrassing WikiLeaks releases, the Clinton campaign is feeling confident enough to make a big push into states such as Arizona, Missouri, and Indiana, as well as diverting money to down-ballot races in a bid to help the Democrats recapture the House.
  • According to the latest CBS poll, Clinton now has a 9-point lead among likely voters nationwide, with 47% to 38% for Trump, 8% for Gary Johnson, and 3% for Jill Stein. A Politico poll found that 41% of voters, including 73% of Republicans, believe the election could be "stolen" from Trump through fraud.
