Cops: Man on LSD 'Saves' Dog From Imaginary Fire
Michael Orchard.   (New York State Police)

In his own way, Michael Orchard is a pretty brave guy. He saw his neighbor's house on fire, sped over in his car, smashed a sliding glass door, and rescued the family dog. Ah, but there's a "but," and it's spectacular. As the Albany Times Union explains, there was no fire. Police in Halfmoon, New York, say the 43-year-old Orchard was high on acid and just imagined it. He thought he was "rescuing the dog from the house," says a state trooper. Cops say Orchard had been banging on doors trying to wake people up before busting into the house, reports WNYT. He is charged with criminal mischief and burglary, the latter for taking the dog, which he handed over to troopers when they arrived. (More weird crimes stories.)
