Where There's Smoke, There's Samsung Phone on Ky. Flight

A smoking Samsung Galaxy Note 7 added a little excitement to a Southwest flight after boarding Wednesday morning in Louisville. The flight was quickly evacuated when flight attendants noticed smoke in the aisles from the dropped phone, which had burned a hole in the plane's carpet, the New York Daily News reports. Arson investigators were called, and confirmed the cause of the smoke was an overheating Samsung phone. No one was injured, but the Verge notes that the phone was a replacement Galaxy Note 7, ie, "one that was deemed to be safe by Samsung." The FAA encourages passengers to power down their Note 7 phones during all stages of air travel in order to avoid this exact situation.
