Josue Flores, 11, dreamed of being a doctor so he could help others. Sadly, doctors couldn't help him Tuesday when he was stabbed in an "unprovoked" attack on a Houston street, per CBS News. Police say Josue was walking home from school, about two blocks from his home, around 4:45pm when a man walking in the opposite direction crossed the street and stabbed Josue multiple times, reports KPRC. The suspect ran away, but a bystander who saw the pair struggle called police. Josue was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Authorities say 31-year-old Che Calhoun—a local homeless man who goes by the name "Detroit," per ABC13—has been charged with murder but is not yet in custody. A motive and any possible relationship between Calhoun and Josue isn't clear, though family members say the boy wasn't carrying a cellphone or laptop at the time, per KHOU. "Everyone liked him … He wanted to be a doctor, he wanted to help people," Josue's 16-year-old sister says. "Now I'm never going to see him again." "It feels like a person has stabbed me in my heart," Josue's mom adds. (More Texas stories.)
