During Thursday night's GOP debate, all three of Donald Trump's fellow candidates said they would support him if he received the nomination. On Friday, an even more surprising person kept that possibility open, Politico reports. Former Democratic presidential candidate Jim Webb says he won't vote for Hillary Clinton, who he doesn't find "inspirational," but would consider casting a vote for Trump because he's willing to shake up Washington. “If you're voting for Donald Trump, you may get something very good or very bad,” Webb told MSNBC. “If you're voting for Hillary Clinton, you're going to be getting the same thing.”
Webb, a former Virginia senator and one-time member of Ronald Reagan's administration, says his decision is "nothing personal" against Clinton, the Washington Post reports. "The reason Donald Trump is getting so much support right now is not because of the, you know, ‘racists,’ etc. and etc.,” Webb told MSNBC. “It’s because a certain group of people are seeing him as the only one who has the courage to say, ‘We’ve got to clean out the stables of the American governmental system right now.’" This isn't the first time Webb has considered turning his back on the Democratic party. He briefly mulled launching an independent campaign for president after dropping out of the Democratic race. (More Jim Webb stories.)
