While many of Donald Trump's supporters see his "potty mouth" as a breath of fresh air, it might not go over so well in "deeply religious" South Carolina, which was dubbed the US' most polite state, Politico reports. In past speeches, Trump has said companies who don't like his tax plan can "f--- themselves" and threatened to "kick the shit" out of ISIS. Just this week he called Ted Cruz a "pussy," with crowds days later chanting for him to repeat it, according to the New York Times. “The way he speaks—that doesn’t sound like somebody who really believes in God that much,” one South Carolina resident says. “You want your children to look up at the president of the United States.”

With Trump still leading in South Carolina by a wide margin, his opponents are trying to use his vulgar language against him. “Is anybody here worried about the front-running candidate shouting out obscenities in front of children?” the State quotes Jeb Bush during an event Friday. “I’m not sure a lot of voters are excited about having a president who, when he gets upset, begins cursing and yelling vulgarities,” the Times quotes Cruz at another event. And yet Trump isn't hurting for support among South Carolina's evangelicals, leaving experts "baffled," as the State puts it. "They like him because he's strange," South Carolina's attorney general says by way of an explanation. For his part, Trump told a crowd in Louisiana on Thursday that he's done with "foul language."
