Not all the shark news this summer is bad news. When beachgoers in Chatham, Massachusetts, came across a beached great white, they staged a remarkable rescue. People tossed water on the shark to keep it alive, and soon the harbormaster showed up and towed it into the water, reports the Providence Journal. Rescuers gingerly led the fish into ever deeper water and eventually let it go. “He was swimming at the surface, just moving along,” says a state shark scientist who helped. “If it survives, that’s just amazing.” (More rescue stories.)
