Cracks Begin to Show in Clinton's RI Stronghold

Rhode Island, where Hillary Clinton enjoys a long-established support base, may not end up being the decisive (though tiny) landslide the senator has expected. Loyal Clinton backers seem to be wavering in the wake of Barack Obama's 11 straight victories, the Washington Post reports. "There must be something I'm missing," says one long-time Clinton supporter.

Although Clinton has most state Democrats behind her, Obama has garnered the support of Rep. Patrick Kennedy and former Senator and ex-Republican Lincoln Chafee. "We certainly see it as a bit of an uphill struggle," admits Obama's communications director. The locals, meanwhile, are pleased in their state's sudden relevance. "I'm excited that Rhode Island's primary is going to mean something," says one.
