Chris Drury's power play goal against one of the league's stingiest penalty-killing teams turned out to be the winner, as New York defeated San Jose, 3-1. Henrik Lundqvist earned the win by making 29 saves and giving up a single goal for the second straight afternoon. Ryan Callahan had the Rangers' other two goals, including an empty-netter, reports AP.
The win vaulted New York into sixth place in the Eastern Conference. Jonathan Cheechoo had the lone goal for San Jose, helped by Joe Thornton 500th career assist, while Evgeni Nabakov, who has started all but one of San Jose's 58 games this season, stopped 30 shots in the loss. The Sharks haven't beaten the Blueshirts since October 2001. (More NHL stories.)
