It took a baby hook from Tyler Hansbrough with only seconds left in regulation for No.5 North Carolina to escape the determined Cavaliers last night, 75-74. Hansbrough finished with 27, and the Tar Heels survived another nail biter following Sunday's double OT victory over Clemson. Virginia have lost ten of their last 11, the AP reports. In other NCAA action:

  • No. 24 Vanderbilt handed Kentucky their worst loss since 1989, winning 93-52. Shan Foster finished with 20 against the hapless Wildcats, who produced more fouls than baskets.
  • Louisville continued its winning ways, defeating DePaul, 88-68. Terrence Williams tied his season best 22 points for the Cardinals, who continue to make a race of it in the Big East.
