A sentence that begins "A Vermont family goes to an amusement park" can end in any number of wholesome ways, and now this not-so-wholesome one: Five members of the Perry family are accused of brawling with police officers over a dispute involving knives on Monday, reports AP. The strange tale unfolded at Canobie Lake Park in Salem, NH, where members of the family were told they had to put the knives clipped to their belts back in their cars if they wanted to enter the park, say police. Things got heated, punches and profanities got thrown, one officer ended up with a dislocated shoulder, and five Perrys ended up in the back of police cars, reports CBS Boston.

Dad Allan, 45, and sons Joshua, 23, and Brian, 18, face charges including felony riot and resisting arrest, while son Damian, 18, and daughter-in-law Ashley, 20, were charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing. Mom didn't get involved in the melee, but police say she did fake a seizure for good measure. The Perrys have their own version of events, with Joshua saying that he did comply with the request to stash his knife but found himself under arrest and slammed against a wall when he tried to re-enter the park, reports WMUR. "Next thing I know, I'm on the ground, somebody's punching my brother, and we're all in cop cars after that." (More weird crimes stories.)
