A bus driver in Portland, Oregon, had to make an unscheduled stop near a busy intersection for a small passenger and a big reason: That passenger was a barefoot, diaper-clad toddler who was wandering toward morning traffic, reports the Oregonian. Veteran TriMet driver Bill Clark pulled over, talked to the boy, then brought him onto the bus and to the transit station. "Had I been 30 seconds later, I believe he would have been right out in the middle of Division Street," Clark tells KGW. It turns out the boy had gotten out of his family's apartment while his dad, who works the late shift, was sleeping. The father called police when he realized the boy was missing, and the family was reunited. No charges were filed. (More uplifting news stories.)
