Last night's contentious Anaheim win over Detroit may have been good practice: If the Ducks want to repeat their championship, they may well have to go through the Red Wings. This time it was referee Dan O'Halloran who saved the Ducks by negating a last-second Detroit goal, reports the Los Angeles Times. Elsewhere in the league:

  • Brent Burns saved Minnesota for the second day in a row, scoring on St. Louis goalie Manny Legace in the shootout for a 2-1 Wild victory.
  • Los Angeles and Columbus also took it down to a shootout, as the NHL's worst team capitalized on the Blue Jackets' offensive freeze to fight to a 3-2 win.
