The Dallas Stars' 6-2 defeat of St. Louis can't be blamed entirely on Blues backup goalie Hannu Toivonen, who left in the second period after letting four goals past. • Jonathan Cheechoo nabbed his first hat trick of the season and added an assist for good measure to help San Jose defeat Nashville 4-3 and secure coach Ron Wilson's 500th win.
  • Marek Svatos and Milan Hejduk each slipped two past Robert Luongo and Curtis Sanford as the Avalanche hurtled to a 6-2 victory over Vancouver.
