As fast-food breakfast competition heats up, Burger King has come out with a new morning offering: The food it serves the rest of the day. The chain says that more than 5,000 locations will serve its new "Burgers at Breakfast" menu, including items like Whoppers, cheeseburgers, and fries, which will be offered alongside its regular breakfast menu, the AP reports. It's not clear whether the menu will be available permanently or for a limited time.
Burger King appears to have been "struggling for a new idea to remain relevant in the morning fast food front," although savvy customers already knew that you can often get a burger for breakfast "if you ask nicely," notes Eric Levenson at the Atlantic Wire. Taco Bell, meanwhile, is taking on market leader McDonald's with a breakfast menu including items like the "Waffle Taco," and McDonald's has taken the opposite approach to Burger King by experimenting with serving breakfast at night.
