Miss World 2013: No Bikinis!

The Miss World competition is saying buh-bye to bikinis after protests from Muslim groups convinced organizers to replace the skimpy swimwear with long sarongs, reports the AP. The change is a nod of respect to this September's host country, Indonesia, and sarongs are traditional in Bali and Jakarta. "This is a sensitive issue in Indonesia. We have discussed it since last year and they have agreed," one organizer tells Fox.

Indonesia is designing for us a very beautiful one-piece beachwear, and I'm very happy with them," says the Miss World Organization's chairwoman. "I don't think Indonesia is the only country that has that culture. But we like to work in the manner respectful to every country, and I cannot see why when you go to somebody's country you should not behave respectfully." (More Indonesia stories.)
