Both the Blue Jackets and Nikolai Zherdev rebounded from old wounds, beating the Blues 6-4 last night, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Zherdev, roughed up in Tuesday's 6-1 trouncing of Columbus by the Blues, had two goals in the final six minutes of play, breaking a 3-3 tie and sandwiching teammate Dan Fritsche's goal  for a 6-3 advantage before a late St. Louis score.

"For what happened in St. Louis, to come back with an effort like this was very impressive. This is a nice step to make a move right now," said Columbus head coach Ken Hitchcock, as last night's win inched his team within three points of the second place Blues. The win saw Columbus halt a three game Blues winning streak. (More NHL stories.)
