Left-wing netroots tastemaker Markos Moulitsas Zúniga is endorsing Mitt Romney in next week’s Michigan primary. You read that right. In Michigan's open primary system, any registered voter can cast a Republican ballot, and the blogger calls for strategic sabotage. With the Democratic race uncontested, the Michigan left can back a GOP candidate, he writes, “adding fuel to their civil war.”

Romney must win his native Michigan to keep afloat, and "the more Republican candidates we have fighting it out, trashing each other with negative ads and spending tons of money, the better it is for us," Moulitsas argues. He points to a long history of electoral “mischief” in the state, including Republican line-crossing for George Wallace and Jesse Jackson. So let’s “return the favor,” he urges.
