Today in pranks gone wrong: Two University of Colorado students are facing some pretty serious prison time after confessing to bringing pot brownies into their history class on Friday morning and feeding them to their unsuspecting peers. Thomas Ricardo Cunningham, 21, and Mary Elizabeth Essa, 19, were arrested Saturday night on multiple felony charges after two students and the professor ended up hospitalized after eating the brownies, which were part of a "bring food to class" day, the Daily Camera reports.

Police were first notified around 10:20am, after the professor became dizzy and started losing consciousness. That afternoon, they heard that a student from the class was hospitalized with an anxiety attack; the next day, they learned of another student who was hospitalized after feeling she was going to "black out" after class. Those three and five others were found to be experiencing the effects of marijuana's active ingredient, THC. Cunningham and Essa have confirmed there was marijuana in the brownies. They could be suspended or expelled, and KUSA reports that each of the four charges they face carries a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison. (More marijuana stories.)
