This week's entry in the marijuana chronicles: Police in Aurora, Illinois, say a man set two big bonfires in his backyard to keep his marijuana plants warm. The tragic flaw in his plan: Police came to investigate the fires—it was about 3am—and spotted three suspicious-looking plants in the yard. Daniel A. Selmon is now charged with felony possession of cannabis and misdemeanor production of cannabis, reports CBS Chicago. Which means he's in more trouble than the British couple who accidentally grew pot in their garden, the German farmer who accidentally grew a whole crop, and the anonymous urban farmers who planted two fields' worth in Chicago. But at least he didn't try to eat the evidence. (More marijuana stories.)
