A gruesome mystery in Canada's capital: Police in Ottawa are investigating two severed body parts found in packages, reports the National Post. A blood-soaked foot was found in a package delivered to Conservative Party headquarters yesterday morning, and hours later, a severed hand was found in a package at a mail sorting office. Police won't say where the hand was to be sent, but it was not the Conservative Party.

Police in Ottawa are talking to their counterparts in Montreal, 100 miles to the east, where a human torso was found in a suitcase yesterday. Investigators say it's too early to tell if the cases are linked. The package sent to Conservative headquarters was addressed to the party instead of any individual. It was received by a receptionist who didn't open it, but called police after noticing bloodstains on the box. "It’s just sickening,” a Conservative MP says. "I hope it has nothing to do with anything with politics. Hopefully, it’s just somebody’s idea of a stupid joke." (More Canada stories.)
