Japan Blogs, But Politely

Japan's enormous blog culture is very different from its counterpart in the English-speaking world, reports the Washington Post. Japanese blogs have more and shorter posts, and they consist mostly of anonymous musings on life and personal experiences. The relentless criticism and self-aggrandizement of American and European bloggers shock many of their Japanese counterparts.

"I don't want to influence the diners," says the author of a blog called "I had my lunch."
The Japanese blog at a blistering rate, with their posts outnumbering English-language ones, and many write on mobile phones, partially explaining the penchant for frequent but brief postings. In fact, as more Americans go wireless, some experts expect their blogs to become "more Japanese." (More Japan stories.)
