Michelle: I Sneak Out Unrecognized 'Frequently'

Apparently that Michelle Obama Target trip was not an isolated occurrence: The first lady often goes out unnoticed, she revealed this morning on Today. “It’s amazing how people don’t recognize you,” Obama said. “They don’t expect to see me at Starbucks or at Chipotle." She even once took dog Bo to Petco, where an oblivious cashier asked about Bo’s breed before eventually figuring out who they were.

“Plenty of people have been in Baskin-Robbins a number of times, you know how the kids aren’t really paying attention—they’re looking right through you,” she continued. She goes out in public “more frequently than people realize” because it “helps to keep our kids’ lives normal.” One thing she does not do: buy toilet paper in bulk at Costco. “You know, we pretty much have our supply stocked, so … Yeah, I know, it’s one of the advantages.
