Seven people were injured early this morning in Tel Aviv when a Palestinian man crashed into an Israel Border Police checkpoint in a stolen taxi then began stabbing people, say authorities, in an incident they're calling "definitely an act of terror," reports Haaretz. The attacker, a man in his 20s from the West Bank, allegedly stole a cab and drove to a large club in the city's south, where he drove into a police barrier, injuring two; he then got out of the car and allegedly began stabbing people.
"The terrorist is currently being interrogated and we are discovering that he planned the act in advance," said the police commissioner. More than 2,000 people were packed into the nightclub for an event at the time of the attack. "We thought it was an accident," said one of the club employees. "I don't want to know what would have happened if the terrorist had managed to enter or even get close to the entrance of the club and carry out his attack there." (More Israel stories.)
