NY Times Paywall Starts This Month

The New York Times website will start charging customers for unlimited access starting March 28, the newspaper announced. Users will be able to read up to 20 articles for free, but beyond that, they’ll have to pay $15 per month for full access to the site and mobile app. For $20, they’ll get site access and an iPad app, and for $35 they’ll get all of the above.

Subscribers to the physical paper will get free access. And if you access an article via a search engine or social network, it won’t count as part of your 20 a month—though you’ll apparently get only five free articles a day through Google. “This move is an investment in our future,” said publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr. It’s “our latest, and best, demonstration of where we believe the future of valued content—be it news, music, games or more—is going.” Business Insider has advice on getting around the paywall.
