Clooney Jokes About Humanitarian Award

Accepting the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at last night's Emmys, George Clooney made light of his work to raise awareness about genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan. "I have offered to go to the south of Sudan and stage, like, a wardrobe malfunction," the modest actor quipped. "But it was pointed out to me that I'm 49, and the consensus was that it would just be upsetting. And kind of sad."

After receiving a standing ovation when he came on stage to accept the award, Clooney cracked: "Don't do that because then I feel like maybe I'm sick and I don't know it," People reports. Clooney later told reporters that the highlight of his night was hanging out backstage with Tom Selleck and Al Pacino. In addition to his work for Darfur, Clooney organized a telethon for victims of the Haitian earthquake.
