Al Sharpton led his counter-rally to Glenn Beck's today, declaring: "They may have the mall, but we have the message. They may have the platform, but we have the dream." Sharpton and other activists gathered to commemorate the 47th anniversary of MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech, then joined hands and walked 3 miles to the site of King's future memorial. The AP put attendance at "several thousand," noting that his marchers crossed paths with some of Beck's supporters. No trouble ensued, save for some "mutual taunting."

"This is our day and we ain't giving it away," said Sharpton. He and others took umbrage with Beck staging his Restoring Honor rally on the anniversary, though Beck insists it was coincidental. He's "humiliating the tradition," declared Jesse Jackson. More details from CNN here. (More Glenn Beck rally stories.)
