Police investigating the two mummified babies found in an LA basement have hit on a curious, but unlikely, person-of-interest. Medical forms found in the same trunk as the bodies refer to a woman named Jean M. Barrie, who was, it seems, a local nurse. But it’s also possible, sources tell the LA Times, that they’re referring to another woman by the same name—who was related to Peter Pan author James M. Barrie.

This other Jean M. Barrie was a storyteller and “reader of plays” of some renown, operating mainly in the Midwest and on the East Coast. It’s unclear if she ever lived in LA, but some clues point in her direction, including a copy of Peter Pan and a membership certificate for the Peter Pan Woodland Club found in the trunk. On the other hand, the babies were found inside of two leather doctor's satchels, which could point to the nurse.
