New York Mets star closer Francisco Rodriguez has been charged with assault after allegedly punching out his girlfriend's dad in, of all places, the "family room" of the team's clubhouse. Sources tell the New York Post that K-Rod (named for his strikeout prowess) roughed up 53-year-old Carlos Pena—after Pena chewed out K-Rod for speaking disrespectfully to his daughter.

It looks like Rodriguez will be suspended by the team for two games without pay, meaning he'll lose $125,000 of his $11.5 million salary. He's free on $5,000 bail and due back in court next month. Pena, visiting from Venezuela, suffered a bump on the head and a scrape on his face and was treated at a local hospital.
