Ever wonder why there are so many magazines about weddings but none about funerals? After two sudden deaths claimed members of his family, a creative director at a British communications company did, so he decided to start one. Eulogy, Jim Thornton's newly launched monthly magazine, deals with funerals, end-of-life care, and other issues of mortality, the BBC reports.
Thornton says it's time society started being more open about death and dying. The director of Britain's end-of-life care industry association agrees, saying the launch of a magazine covering these issues is a "positive move for society." He adds, however, that's he not sure who will actually buy the periodical. "People are more willing to address bereavement when it happens to them, but I can't see them dashing to the newsagent to buy this magazine," he says. (More death stories.)
