Want to be in a YouTube movie directed by Kevin Macdonald and produced by Ridley Scott? Record your ordinary daily life on July 24, upload it to YouTube, and you just might end up in the feature-length documentary "Life in a Day," a compilation of user-submitted footage from around the world. "I hope it will be something that will open people's eyes to the possibilities of user-generated film," Macdonald says.

The film will premiere at Sundance in January and will be streamed for free on YouTube at the same time. Macdonald says he hopes the movie will be a kind of time capsule. So how do you get your footage chosen? "The most important thing is that people are intimate," Macdonald tells the AP. "Honesty is what I want." (More YouTube stories.)
