Censorship, the old-fashioned way.   (AP Photo/Williams-Sonoma)

Teachers are the rational ones, right? Explain that to one in Vancouver who took a pair of scissors and cut out the photo of a middle school student from all 150 school yearbooks. It seems the student had made what the teacher deemed a "hurtful" comment about the principal beneath his class photo, reports the Vancouver Sun. After a huge public outcry, the district will pony up to print the yearbooks again.

The offending comment isn't what you might think: The teen complained that the principal spent money on a fence instead of textbooks. After it made it into print, the teacher in charge of the textbooks took offense and grabbed his scissors. He inserted a note of apology in each book but added, "I will not allow anything to be published that is hurtful and untrue." (He blamed the district, not the principal, for the budget decision.) The student has agreed to come up with a new comment (still unknown) for the reprint.
