6 Body Image Lessons ... From Reality Stars

If you want to learn some real body-image lessons, just watch reality TV. No, not The Biggest Loser or Celebrity Fit Club—typical trashy reality shows, starring such beloved household names as Snooki and Heidi. Here are the sometimes inspiring, sometimes scary lessons they’ve taught Leslie Goldman of the Huffington Post:

  • Snooki: Not surprisingly, she gained weight while drinking nonstop on Jersey Shore—but she says things like, “We all have flaws” and gets an A-minus for teaching us to “work with what you’ve got,” Goldman writes.

  • Heidi Montag: Shockingly, she gets an F: “Proof that even the most quote-perfect-unquote body and face won't bring you happiness if you're still miserable on the inside."
  • Teresa Giudice: The now-broke Real Housewife once took just 10 minutes to spend $2,000 on clothes—and is raising her daughters “with a seemingly single-minded focus on looks.” She gets a D.
  • Bethenny Frankel: The fellow Housewife gets a much better grade—an A—for advocating non-crazy ideas about managing weight like moderation and portion control.
