The creator of the Jersey Shore says she's constantly worried about STDs, “because I have everybody hooking up.” In a recent reality TV roundtable conducted by the Hollywood Reporter, Dr. Drew Pinsky of Celebrity Rehab fame complained that the network made him give all his patients the herpes medicine Valtrex. “We hand it out like M&Ms,” interjected Shore creator SallyAnn Salano. “'Hey kids, it's time for Valtrex!' It's like a herpes nest. They're all mixing it up.”

Salsano also said that, though the show is often condemned for being exploitative, she keeps a therapist on set, calls the cast members before difficult episodes, and cares about them all. “So you care about Snooki?” asked Randy Jackson of American Idol. “I do care about Snooki!” Salsano replied. “You can look in my cell phone right now. I've got Papa Snooki, Mama Snooki, all of them.” (More Jersey Shore stories.)
