James: I 'Wanted to Get Caught'

ABC has begun to trickle out the juiciest tidbits from the Jesse James interview airing tomorrow on Nightline, starting with a two-minute clip that ran on today’s Good Morning America. In it, Vicki Mabrey asks him the questions on everyone’s mind: Why would you hurt Sandra Bullock, and “You had the perfect life. Why did you throw it away?” James, of course, basically fails to answer either question.

“The last person I would ever want to hurt or harm is her or the kids,” James says, without going into much detail on why he went ahead and hurt her anyway. “I knew it was horrible. And I knew I would get caught eventually, and I think I wanted to get caught. It was me trying to self-sabotage my life,” he says, calling himself the “most hated man in the world.”
