If you're weary from the heavy issues of the week, the New York Post has one on the lighter side: Socks with sandals, yea or nay? Some trendy designers have blessed the look for this summer, and celebs such as Chloe Sevigny are on board. Two fashionistas duke it out, with the no-way side ridiculing the "trend slaves" who have accepted this form of "style suicide."

You may think it looks "whimsical and quirky," but "the overall effect of knitted bits peeping through your sandals seems a little pathetic, like you’ve been planning your outfit all week." Nah, says the advocate. Do it right—socks in neutral shades and scrunched up casually, for starters—and you achieve the essence of style, "the perfect balance between fashion and function."
