Good news, hipsters: You won’t have to trade in your street cred for Radio Disney when you have kids, thanks to “kindie music.” That’s independent kid music, aka stuff parents can listen to—and enjoy—even when their offspring aren’t around. Even as the music industry struggles, kindie music is booming, Time reports.

Kindie bands run the gamut from punk to pop, and they address topics ranging from serious (bullies, divorce) to silly (new haircuts). Though some artists write specifically for kids, even “adult” bands like Weezer and the Shins are making appearances on children’s shows such as Yo Gabba Gabba! or completely crossing over, the way They Might Be Giants did. So put away the Barney CDs: It’s time to rock.
