Boston’s one of America’s more liberal ‘bergs, but on the eve of tax day, the Tea Party Express just couldn’t resist a stop in the city that held the original anti-tax rally more than 200 years ago. And with Sarah Palin as the headliner, the rally drew what looked like several thousand demonstrators, the Boston Globe reports—none of them, sadly, dressed like Indians. “Boston, if anyone knows how to throw a tea party, it’s you,” Palin declared. Her money quote: "We'll keep clinging to our Constitution and our guns and our religion—and you can keep the change."

The chairman of the Tea Party Express, meanwhile, declared that “Massachusetts is a blue-collar, working-stiff state, and we’re reclaiming it for America.” Various crowd members expressed similar sentiments. “I live in a very blue state,” said one, “I want to turn it red, or at least, purple.” There was only one counter-demonstrator on hand, carrying a sign reading, “Dump Palin in the harbor.” A group of tea partiers surrounded him, blew smoke in his face, and asked him to leave. He obliged. (More Tea Party Express stories.)
