Sometimes you don’t even have to sit through a movie remake to wonder, Was this really necessary? Cary McNeal lists six do-overs that we definitely don’t need, on Café Mom:

  1. The Karate Kid: “They're remaking the 1984 classic. Which probably leaves you with the same question I always have when I see that a great film is being redone: Why?”

  1. Clash of the Titans: The “lame” special effects in the original were “what gave the movie its charm.” No such charm in the remake, just “boatloads of CGI.”
  2. Red Dawn: Sure, the original sucked—but “sucking is what made it likable,” so the remake is ill-advised. Plus, “I don't think a Russian invasion is anything we have to worry about now.”
