Browns nose tackle Shaun Rogers, who was arrested last night at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport when screeners found a loaded handgun in his carry-on luggage, has been charged with a felony and released on $1,000 bond. Sources say Rogers told police he had forgotten about the firearm. In addition to his legal troubles, Rogers is unlikely to get much sympathy from the NFL, because he was suspended in 2006 for violating the league's drug policy.

In 2006, Rogers sat out four games after testing positive for a banned substance, ephedrine, which he said was present in an appetite suppressant, the Plain Dealer reports. The league is particularly harsh on repeat offenders. The Browns says the team is “aware” of the incident and is waiting to react publicly “until the legal process has taken its course.” The NFL had a similar reaction.
