Barack Obama’s new energy proposal is less “drill, baby, drill,” and more “stall, baby, stall,” Sarah Palin complains in a blog post on the National Review . Obama today said he’d “consider potential areas for development” while “studying protecting sensitive areas in the Arctic.” Well, Palin says she’s seen plenty of studies. “What we need is action—action that results in job growth and revenue that a robust drilling policy could provide.”
Palin is especially irritated by the new ban on drilling in certain parts of Alaska, and the cancellation of leases to drill in the Chukchi and Beaufort seas. Arctic exploration is a slow process, she warns, and can’t handle delays. “I’ve got to call it like I see it: The administration’s sudden interest in offshore drilling is little more than political posturing, designed to gain support for job-killing” cap-and-trade—or as Palin calls it, “cap-and-tax”—legislation.
