Tiger Woods is a great—no, a fantastic—guy, writes his college girlfriend in a fawning piece for Golf.com. So great, in fact, that when they were together they liked to “steal a bottle of whiskey" from Tiger's father, Irene Folstrom writes, or “use my fake ID to buy a jug of wine, and we’d hang out and dream about the future.” She also waxes poetic about their favorite Chinese joint, where they always got free desserts, before calling on “the public” to give Tiger a second chance.
Though Tiger would talk to her about his desire to “make a larger contribution to society”—done and done!—their future together wasn’t a topic of conversation: “Earl had drilled into Tiger that he should wait until his 30s to get married.” But that’s not the point! The point is, “Tiger was a great boyfriend”; he was “loyal, devoted and self-controlled”; he was—somehow, Folstrom feels she can say this “with certainty”—“faithful,” and their sexual relationship was “normal.” All this cheating stuff? The only explanation is the “enormous pressure” on the golfer.
