Viacom has dealt Hulu what may be its biggest programming setback yet by yanking the Daily Show, the Colbert Report, and several other Comedy Central shows from its service. Hulu announced that it would be losing the shows as of March 9 in a blog posting in which it wished the programs a fond farewell and reminded viewers they were still available at the dailyshow.com and colbertnation.com.

After discussions with Comedy Central, "we ultimately were unable to secure the rights to extend these shows for a much longer period of time," stated the Hulu post. Viacom likely yanked the programs because it's not receiving enough income from Hulu, Mashable notes, although it may be trying to boost the shows' viewership through its own service by making them unavailable elsewhere.
