Facebook users have been complaining about problems with the site today. Users in the US and other countries took to Twitter beginning this morning to say they couldn't log in or were experiencing slow speeds. A spokesman said the company is working to restore access and, without giving a specific number, said only a "small percentage of users" were affected. He called it an isolated server problem.

Facebook, which has more than 400 million users, has generally avoided such hiccups. Twitter has had bigger problems. Last August, hackers shut down the short messaging service for several hours. Facebook has never been shut down completely.
