Simon Cowell Engaged

Ornery American Idol judge Simon Cowell once called marriage an “outdated contract,” but apparently he does have a soft spot: He proposed to girlfriend of six months Mezghan Hussainy on Valentine’s Day, the Sun reports. “Simon's definitely engaged,” says a friend. “I've never seen him so happy.” The Daily Mail, meanwhile, reports that he proposed to the make-up artist, 14 years his junior at 36, weeks ago.

Either way, Hussainy is now sporting a $389,000 diamond ring. Cowell recently called her “the one” in a TV interview, audience members say, adding that, “I think I need to have little Simons around.”
