Dick Cheney on Palin in 2012: Meh
Scribblings aside, the ex-veep wasn't gung-ho on Palin 2012, saying all candidates "have a lot of work to do."   (AP Photo/Pat Sullivan)

Dick Cheney took time out of a busy Biden-bashing schedule this morning to train his sights on Sarah Palin, saying he hasn't decided yet who he'll support in 2012 and that “all the prospective candidates have a lot of work to do.” On Palin's recent call for President Obama to get tough on Iran and Israel for political reasons, the ex-veep scoffed, "The stakes are too high, the consequences too significant to be treating those as simple political calculations." Elsewhere on the Sunday dial:

  • Of Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Cheney said, "it's time to reconsider the policy." White House National Security Adviser Jim Jones concurred, telling State of the Union, "times have changed."
  • Lindsey Graham says he'll help Obama close Gitmo—if the president does an about-face on handling enemy combatants. "Military law should apply here. You capture the enemy, you get them off the battle field. You don’t provide them lawyers," Graham said.
  • Jon Kyl dismissed the White House health reform summit as "pointless. I don’t know why we’d be having a bipartisan summit if (Democrats) have already devised a plan to jam this bill through.”
