Harry Reid is still trailing badly in the polls in Nevada, but it’s not for a lack of money. The Senate Majority Leader is raising and spending cash at an unheard of pace, both for his own campaign and for other Nevada Democrats. Reid tossed state Democrats nearly $660,000 last year, and sources tell Politico he’ll hand the party hundreds of thousands more throughout the year.

He’s also given his money, much of which comes from lobbyist bundlers or Democratic operatives, to local organizations supporting African-Americans, Hispanics, Asian-Americans, women and gays. Of course, the bulk of Reid’s efforts are on his own behalf—he spent a whopping $2.1 million on TV ads from October to December. “I have, I think, the best campaign organization that’s ever been set up in the state of Nevada,” he recently boasted.
