Boston Legal Actor Killed in Car Crash

Former Boston Legal actor Justin Mentell has been killed in a car accident in rural Wisconsin. The 27-year-old, who played attorney Garrett Wells in the show's inaugural season, died after his Jeep careened off a steep embankment around 3am Monday, according to E! Online. The actor wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

The accident was called in after the wreckage was spotted later that morning and Mentell was pronounced dead at the scene. William Shatner, who appeared alongside Mentell in Boston Legal, paid tribute to his late colleague. "I'm deeply saddened," Shatner wrote on his Twitter page. "There's no telling how far up the ladder he might have climbed."
