The Global Language Monitor has crunched the numbers, and the “Top Fashion Buzzword of the upcoming season” is…Lady GaGa! Interestingly, this is the first time a personage has topped the list. First lady Michelle Obama came close in the previous survey, at No. 2, but “Mobama” has since plummeted to No. 15. At 2 and 3 on this season’s list: “leggins 2.0” and “no pants.” Makes perfect sense.

GLM computes its list of buzzwords by culling them from “the global fashion media,” putting them to a test in a nomination process overseen by “key fashionistas,” and then subjecting them to a “proprietary algorithm” that gauges “contextual usage.” Of Lady GaGa, GLM’s director says “the world of fashion has been duly impacted by her in ways some subtle and some rather profound.” Also on the list: “peek-a-boos” and “Armadillo.” (More Lady Gaga stories.)
