'I'm a Scott Brown Republican'

Massachusetts' soon-to-be junior senator Scott Brown made his debut on the Sunday morning talk scene today, Politico reports, emphasizing his pro-choice stance, calling for the health bill to be scrapped, and warning fellow Republicans he'll "make his own decisions in Washington." Asked about his 2012 ambitions on This Week, he demurred: "I don’t even have a business card." And by the way, reports the AP, he'd like daughter Ayla to get another crack on American Idol.

• The White House skirted whether the trial of accused 9/11 plotter Khalid Sheikh Mohammed ought to be civilian or military, with both Robert Gibbs and David Axelrod refusing to commit. Said Gibbs: "He will be brought to justice, and he will likely be executed."
• Funding for that trial isn't about to get through Congress, says Mitch McConnell, who favors military tribunals. "We need to deny these people a show trial," he said.
• Gibbs emphasized health reform is alive and well, telling State of the Union it's "inside the five-yard line. We are one vote away in the House."
• The White House jobs push will cost $100 billion, Gibbs said. "Obviously we’re not seeing the jobs we’d like" and "additional stimulus spending” will help.
